BYD has finally put a price on the Ti 7, and it's a sharp one. The brand's first seven-seat SUV for the UK will cost £47,995 on the road, it comes in one fully loaded Excellence AWD spec, and it pairs a 408PS plug-in hybrid system with an electric-only range of up to 74 miles.
We've had a lot of families ask us for a seven-seater that doesn't cost a fortune to run, and there aren't many plug-in hybrids that actually do the job with all three rows. On paper, the Ti 7 looks like it could be one of the more interesting new cars of 2027. What is the BYD Ti 7?
It's a big, square-shouldered family SUV and a very different thing from the BYD Sealion 7 or Seal U, which are both five-seaters. At just over 5.1 metres long and nearly 2 metres wide, the Ti 7 is in the same size bracket as the big seven-seaters from Kia and Hyundai, and it's clearly aimed at people who need the space every week rather than once a year.
It's also a sign of how quickly BYD is filling out its UK range. Two years ago most people hadn't heard of the brand. Now it has cars in almost every segment, and a seven-seater was the obvious gap. Plug-in hybrid power, with more electric range than most
The Ti 7 uses what BYD calls its DM-p Super Hybrid system. The "p" stands for performance, and you can see why. There's a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine working with electric motors on both axles, giving four-wheel drive and a combined 408PS. BYD quotes 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, which is quicker than a lot of hot hatches and frankly more than any family needs. It's nice to have for joining a dual carriageway with a full car, though.
The number that matters more for most people is the 74-mile electric range from the 35.6kWh Blade Battery. A lot of seven-seat plug-in hybrids manage somewhere around 30 to 40 miles on electric, so this is roughly double. In practice that could cover the school run, the commute and the weekend shop without the engine starting, as long as you can charge at home. On longer trips the petrol engine takes over and you're not worrying about chargers.

Interior, space and equipment
With only one trim on sale, there's no picking through option packs. Everything comes as standard, and the list is long:
- Leather seats in black, light grey or brown
- Three-zone climate control
- Heated and ventilated front seats, and heated and ventilated outer seats in the second row
- A fridge between the front seats that can also warm drinks
- 15.6-inch central touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital driver's display
- 18-speaker sound system
- Two 50W wireless phone chargers
- Panoramic glass roof
- Acoustic glass for the windscreen and front windows
- 20-inch alloy wheels and full LED lighting
The fridge sounds like a gimmick until you've done a long summer drive with kids in the back. Anyone who has will get it.
Boot space is worth being honest about. With all seven seats up you get 126 litres, which is enough for a few shopping bags but not a pushchair. Fold the third row and it jumps to a much more useful 970 litres, and with both rear rows down there's 1,830 litres. That's normal for this type of car, and it's how most owners will use it day to day, with the back row up only when it's needed.
Colour choice is simple too. Starlight Silver is the no-cost option. Mountain Green, Obsidian Black, Jade Green and Titanium Grey are £1,100, and Matte Titanium Grey is £2,000.
How does it compare with other seven-seaters?
This is where the Ti 7 gets interesting. Some of the best-known family SUVs, including the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron, only offer their plug-in hybrid versions with five seats. If you want seven seats and a plug, the main rivals have been the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, both of which are good cars but with much less electric range.
If you're happy to go fully electric, the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 are worth a look as well. But for a lot of drivers, particularly those towing, covering big mileages or without reliable public charging nearby, a long-range plug-in hybrid is still the easier option to live with. The Ti 7 sits right in that space.
How good value it is on a lease will come down to the monthly rates the funders set, and that depends heavily on how they expect it to hold its value. We'll know more once pricing is released.
Is the BYD Ti 7 a good company car?
Potentially, yes. Official CO2 figures haven't been published yet, but with a 74-mile electric range the Ti 7 should fall into one of the lower Benefit-in-Kind bands for plug-in hybrids. That could make it a strong option for business car leasing and for salary sacrifice schemes, where the tax savings can make a big difference to what a car costs you each month.

When can you get one?
The Ti 7 is available to order now. The first cars arrive in showrooms in November 2026, with customer deliveries starting in January 2027.
BYD is also running a £500 pre-order deposit, which it matches with its own £500 contribution. That's aimed at retail buyers purchasing through a BYD dealer.
