A Leap Forward in Design

The iX3 debuts BMW’s new design language, described by the brand as characterful, timeless, and modern. Clean surfaces, precise lines, and an updated front end—featuring light in place of chrome and vertically oriented kidney grilles—give it a commanding and unmistakably BMW presence.

Electrifying Performance and Efficiency

Powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the iX3 50 xDrive (dual-motor AWD) delivers 345 kW / 469 hp, 645 Nm torque, and sprints from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph.

Built on an advanced 800-volt architecture with a 108-kWh cylindrical-cell battery, it achieves up to 805 km (500 miles) WLTP range, can add 372 km (231 miles) of range in just 10 minutes via 400 kW rapid charging, and charges from 10–80 % in approximately 21 minutes.

Smart Software and Digital Experience

At the heart of the iX3 lies BMW’s breakthrough electronics architecture, powered by four “superbrains,” including the Heart of Joy, which centralises driving dynamics for ultra-fast response and precision.

Inside, BMW introduces the Panoramic iDrive: a sweeping, panoramic “vision” display integrated into the dashboard, emphasising intuitive control “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road.” It runs on BMW’s Android-based OS X.

Sustainability Matters

BMW underscores the iX3’s environmental credentials: it’s the first Neue Klasse vehicle produced at Debrecen, Hungary, a factory that operates without fossil fuels. The new design and production approach reduce the model's carbon footprint by about 30–35 % compared to its predecessor, while usage-phase efficiency gains of 20 % are achieved via efficient dynamics and advanced eDrive.

The vehicle also supports bidirectional charging (Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home), making the iX3 usable as an energy source.

Global Rollout & Context

BMW plans spring 2026 launches across Europe, followed by summer 2026 deliveries in the U.S., Canada, and model variants tailored for China produced at Shenyang. In the UK, pricing starts around £58,755, with three trims: iX3, iX3 M Sport, and iX3 M Sport Pro; initial deliveries are slated for 7 March 2026.

Strategic Significance for BMW

As the inaugural model of the Neue Klasse, the iX3 is pivotal in BMW’s pivot toward a software-centric, sustainable EV future. Oliver Zipse, BMW’s CEO, emphasises that “practically everything about it is new, yet it is also more BMW than ever”.

BMW aims to roll out 40 new or updated models on Neue Klasse by 2027. With this platform, the brand speeds its long-term electrification, digitalisation, and circularity goals into reality.

Summary

The 2025 BMW iX3 is more than just a new SUV—it’s a statement of BMW’s bold vision for a sustainable, digital future. With its advanced eDrive, smart software, and eco-conscious production, the iX3 leads a new wave of EVs and defines the Neue Klasse era.
